New Space Simulator Game Being Developed For PC Specs That Do Not Yet Exist

The game will probably look exactly like this
Spaceship simulator games are getting more popular by the day and racking up massive funds via Kickstarter; but can “Stars and Ships and Pew Pews”, the newest spaceship sim to enter the arena, get that kind of cash by developing on a system that does not yet exist?

To achieve this lofty goal, like other indie developers before them, the developers have turned to Kickstarter. But in contrast to those other developers their Kickstarter page is rather bare. It details little about the project but promises “beautiful starry backdrops, detailed space ships, and lots of guns.” The game will supposedly also feature unprecedented graphics - being that the specs don’t even exist.

Strangely not on their page but instead only on their website, starsshipspewpew.tk, is their explanation of how they’re developing for a non-existent computer.

They claim to be using a mix of “playing a lot of Starfox 64 and having like, super big imaginations” to come up with the ideas and how they will eventually program them when the right system and game engine exists. The site also says they have several thousands of lines of code already in their minds ready to flow into their future supercomputer.

Updates on the Kickstarter have been few and far between, ranging from random food pictures to vague text updates such as “Starbud in space. Think about it,” but the developers insist that they are indeed working on the game and appreciate all the supportive backers over the past few months. They have also sent out a free demo to all of those who pledged over $50, although we’ve been told the demo is just a text file with the words “Now imagine space ships and shit flying around here. Your mind just exploded,” and a grainy picture of the four-person development team giving a thumbs up.

To date, the game has raised nearly $70 million on Kickstarter - crushing their modest goal of $3 million. The release date has been stated as “[...] shooting for 2019 as this seems like the date when PC specs will finally be up to par with our amazing ideas for such a fantastic game. That or everyone will forget about the money they donated by then, whichever comes first.”
