PAX South, PAX North, PAX Northeast, PAX Central Iowa and PAX Mars Announced By Convention Organizers

Following another successful PAX conference, the organizers behind the event released a press statement announcing several new locations for the conference. Although it already has wildly successful locations with PAX Prime, PAX East and PAX Austrailia, the gaming convention has yet to host a location in Europe or the rest of the word. 


The first announced was PAX South, which will take place in Texas to “attract the millions of gamers in Texas that don’t want to drive all the way to Washington for PAX Prime”, as well as PAX North which is meant to help Minnesota residents have their own convention. PAX North East, which takes place just up the road from the current PAX East location in Boston, Massachusetts, will help them in with this goal.

The press release reinforced the thought that PAX is hoping to expand to everywhere around the globe.

“It seems kind of a waste to do only one conference over here in the greatest area of the world,” convention organization President Noah Blanche told us. Blanche also went on to tell us that the conference will take place just a few days after PAX East to “give attendees a chance to fly home and play some games then come back to Boston and do it all over again.” Having a second conference in the same city will also help with reducing confusion over flights and hotels and allow fans to just book a single hotel for a week instead of having to book two separate times. 

Another big announcement in the press release was the reveal of PAX Central Iowa, which will take place in McCallsburg Iowa. “We feel that this town and it’s population of nearly 400 people will really appreciate the PAX conference, and it also gives Idaho residents a way to attend a PAX conference if they haven’t been able to make the drive in the past.” Unlike other gatherings, which are normally held in large convention centers, PAX Central Iowa will take place in the Colo-NESCO Pre-School and Daycare building; the largest in the city of McCallsburg. We spoke to several McCallsburg, Iowa residents all who had no idea what PAX or an Xbox were, but were more than happy to host the “board game convention”, as they called it. 

Following backlash from some fans because they haven’t had any conventions outside of the US other than Australia, the PAX organizers also announced PAX Mars, a special project that the team hopes will be up and running by 2020. According to the press release, PAX Mars will only be accessible by a not-yet-created shuttle and will take place in the Gale Crater on Mars, match it’s landing site with that of the Curiosity rover, and will feature a single-building convention center meant to house four people and a full-sized rover. 

While none of this satisfied the millions of European fans pining for a PAX of their own, one spokesman for the convention assured fans that they will have a great time flying to the US or Australia and “[if they] don’t like that they can just go to Mars in a couple years.”
