Breakdown of PlayStation 4 Hardware Reveals Hidden Feature

This grainy footage from an unknown source shows the
alleged game disc being passed between two Sony employees

Internet sleuths the world over are slowly digging up details about a secret feature that Sony's flagship Netflix player, the PlayStation 4, contains. While nothing has been confirmed by Sony or any of their representatives, there is growing evidence that the PlayStation 4 can, in fact, play video games. The rumors started late last week when popular hardware hacker Benjamin Heckendorn (more commonly known online as BenHeck) did a video breakdown of the PlayStation 4 hardware.

"Now we'll just remove the casing which I assume houses the Roku hardware in here," he says in the video. "Wait a minute? A drive of some sort that looks like it can hold circular discs? Huh, that's weird." Although he quickly moved onto and didn't mention it further in the breakdown, the comments section quickly flooded with posts by astute viewers.

"Wait, was that a Blu-ray drive to play games in?" said one YouTube viewer. "This is fucking gay," said another. Several others pointed out that Sony accidentally mentioned the potential of these "video games" at their E3 release, even showing a short grainy video of two executives passing what appeared to be a disc back and forth. While we and many others are greatly enjoying our PlayStation 4 and its high definition streaming of our favorite Netflix shows, we find it intriguing that it contains this mysterious “Blu-ray drive” to play games and it raises a few complex questions. Is this a hidden feature that Sony intended to activate later, or maybe something the company intended to eliminate from the hardware but just sort of forgot to? Why wouldn't they advertise this more or, at the very least, release some games to play if the PlayStation 4 does actually have that ability? We may never know for sure.
