Following a successful round of testing for Battlefield: Hardline, EA has announced that the beta for Battlefield: Hardline 2 is available now on PC and PS4. Much like the beta for the original Hardline that released two weeks ago, this one will feature a familiar experience to anyone who has played a Battlefield game before.
“We were very happy with the success of the beta for Battlefield: Hardline,” EA stated in its press release announcing their sequel to a game that has not been released yet, “and when we saw the attention it got and pre-orders started rolling in we knew we had to work on the sequel.” The release goes on to detail how the grueling two week development process of Battlfield: Hardline 2 took place, consisting of a lot of difficult copy and pasting as well as adjusting several color sliders. EA’s dedication to bringing a full fledged sequel to the highly anticipated Battlefield: Hardline brought them to even design all new box art featuring a never-before-seen soldier walking towards the camera.
Sources have also confirmed that Battlefield: Hardline is “about 80% done” and ready to ship to customers this October. “Now that Hardline is mostly done and we got our pre-order money, it’s time to just get it shipping out and start on the sequel,” one source told us.
Like Battlefield: Hardline, its sequel is expected to release in October, but it is not yet known if it will release before or after the original game. “We like to keep our release dates fluid,” CEO Andrew Wilson told reporters from his hidden supervillain bunker somewhere in the deserts of Nevada, “Because of that we don’t actually know if Battlefield: Hardline or Battlefield: Hardline 2 will release first. But we know gamers will enjoy paying $60 for each one regardless.” Wilson also announced that each game will have season passes available for the super fans that want all the extra content they can get. So far twelve DLC maps have been confirmed to go along with the three that come with the games.
Addressing concerns that the Battlefield series was becoming annualized like it’s rival Call of Duty, Wilson stated, “There is no need to worry. Battlefield will never be an annual game, that would absolutely kill the beloved series and make it a boring title that does nothing new every year and instead becomes into a money grab exploiting a well-known brand name.”
Following a quick Q&A session and ceremonial executions of reporters who asked for details on Battlefront 3, Wilson stated that the beta for Battlefield 5 will begin in December then quickly morphed into the form of a three-eyed serpent and slithered away through an air vent.
