FIFA 14: World Cup Edition Brings Authentic Brazilian Experience To EA's Soccer Franchise

EA Sports has announced an update coming soon to FIFA 14 that will “bring more realism into the customer’s gaming experience than ever before.” In a press release issued Friday, the sports gaming giant stated, “It’s our goal to give players the most realistic graphics and situations possible, to truly feel the grass beneath their feet or the smell of tear gas in the air.”

The update, titled FIFA 14: World Cup Edition, will include, among other things, a new half-finished skin for the stadium, riots in the streets outside, and sounds of unrelenting gunfire. “These are the elements we were missing from the game that had to wait until the World Cup began,” the release explained. “The stadium actually being finished is a glaring inconsistency that we felt compelled to correct.”

“And how could it be Brazil’s World Cup without the signs of social unrest and government corruption?”

Also included is the all-new Brazilian Government mode. “We’re very proud of this one,” CEO Andrew Wilson told sources. “You take on the role of a riot police officer as you beat back the protesters using tear gas and rubber bullets. You may even see some of your favorite players from one of our famous IPs!” While Wilson could not confirm himself what other characters will have cameos, rumors are circulating that you may get the chance to gun down homeless protesters as Commander Shepard from Mass Effect or even Elias Walker from the critically acclaimed Call of Duty: Ghosts among others.

The other big addition to the popular soccer franchise will be FIFA Official Mode. This will allow players to take on the role of officials on the selection committee as they take bribes and dodge investigative probes. “To truly step into the shoes of those that can call the shots and be bought. That is what real FIFA realism is all about.”

The mandatory $5.99 update will be forced upon players next Monday.
